About CCAN
CCAN — the Climate Change Adaptation Network — is a non-profit, transnational association promoting climate change adaptation in the built environment across Europe.
Our aims
CCAN exchanges knowledge and experience between public institutions, companies, business networks, individuals and experts working on climate change adaptation and resilient planning — in Europe and, where useful, worldwide. It promotes climate-resilient development of the built environment, supports regional and local adaptation measures against heat, heavy precipitation, flooding, drought and storms, and develops shared assessment and monitoring instruments such as the CCAN Indicator.

Origin of CCAN-Network
CCAN is founded during the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE 2021-2027 project SuPeRBE (Supporting Cross-scale Planning and Policy readiness for a Resilient Built Environment). The overall objective of SuPeRBE was to improve the capacity to act of public authorities in defining, implementing and evaluating climate change adaptation measures for the built environment. The first (ever) multi-scale integrated assessment tool (RBE-CE) for scoring the level of adaption of buildings, neighbourhoods and communities based on the new EN ISO 14091:2021 "Adaptation to climate change" has been developed.
How CCAN is organized
CCAN is registered as a non-profit association in Austria (Vereinsgesetz 2002). Its bodies are:
General Assembly
The supreme body of CCAN, composed of the representatives of all members, convening at least once a year.
The Board
President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary, elected by the General Assembly for a three-year term. See board contacts.
Advisory Body
An optional body of up to 3 members providing scientific and technical guidance on climate adaptation methodology.
Membership categories
Public Institutions, Private Companies, Individuals and Supporting Members — each with defined voting weight in the General Assembly.
